Love Tips - Bend It Like Beckham 7 Reasons You Need To Date A Yoga Lover

Need to whip your love life back into shape? Here's why you need a yogi girlfriend.
Yoga is more than just an exercise routine; it's a discpline and a lifestyle. Gentlemen, if your ideal partner is someone who is down to earth, extremely focused, a fitness goddess and is incredibly confident, your quest for love is officially over.

Amit Ray once expressed the passion that goes into truly embracing yoga by stating, "The true miracle lies in our eagerness to allow, appreciate, and honor the uniqueness, and freedom of each sentient being to sing the song of their heart."

Even dating experts agree it's good for your love life. So good, that it's an online dating buzzword. They encourage women to put "I do yoga" in their profiles to drive men wild.

If you need more incentives to take a chance on love, check out these foolproof reasons to date a yoga lover.

1. They're in great shape.
Fitness guru turned instagram star Jen Selter isn't the only one who looks good in yoga pants. From their ridiculously toned legs, incredibly fit derrière, to their sculpted abs, yoginis definitely aren't afraid of bringing sexy back. Van Thompson from Live Healthy stated that body-weight exercises provide the same effects as squats and lunges, and also aid in toning muscles. If that alone doesn't get you hot and bothered, then their immense upper body strength (have you seen those handstands?) will.

2. They're healthy.
Researchers at the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine found that practicing yoga has a more successful rate of reducing chronic back pain than simply relying on self-care books. Is there anything sexier than someone who takes extra care of their health?

3. They're flexible.
With years of training under their belt, yoga lovers constantly defy the laws of gravity with jaw dropping poses. Being able to lock yourself into various positions designed to test the body's strength takes some serious skills. If you love the rush you get after heading to the gym, why not date a girl who gets a thrill out of (cautiously) pushing her body to the limit? After all, when it comes to fitness, she's a total badass.

4. They have a hotter sex life.
Not only are they incredibly "bendy", they're also flexible when it comes to the bedroom. In a study conducted by The Journal of Sexual Medicine, yoga is said to have caused a hike in "desire, arousal, orgasm, and overall satisfaction". Not only does this mean that you will both be more than satisfied with your sex lives, she may even be open to trying new moves.

5. They're very relaxed.
The ability to consciously eliminate stressors through meditation is no easy feat. According to Better Medicine, Garett Sarley, the president of the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, stated that "Yoga is one of the few stress-relief tools that has a positive effect on all the body systems involved." This essentially translates to great news for your relationship. Not only is she incredibly laid back, she also doesn't sweat the small stuff. You forgot it was your turn to do the laundry? Who cares! You forgot that today's your anniversary? Well, Shakespeare may have been onto something when he said "The course of true love never did run smooth".

6. They're well-balanced.
Her daily routine includes carefully transitioning from standing splits to handstands. It shouldn't come as a shock that her ability to keep her balance for a long period of time trickles down into your love affair; she is more than capable of maintaining a balanced relationship by working through any hardships and is excellent at communicating her feelings. It's going to take a lot more than minor bumps in the road to turn her away. Just remember to meet her halfway.

7. They're in tune with their inner selves.
This is possibly the greatest reason of all. As she spends so much time meditating on life, love and everything in between, she understands that in order for a relationship to thrive, you first have to know how to love yourself. The art of yoga is all about embracing the positive, letting go of the negative and being one with your inner self. You won't find any glaring insecurities here because she knows her self-worth.

And, your yogi is actually a happier person. A study from Boston University School of Medicine and McLean Hospital reports doing one hour of asanas helps raise levels of GABA, a chemical in the brain, by 27 percent — low levels of GABA are associated with depression. Namasté.
